Secondary Glazing Installation at the BBC Building, Belfast

Secondary Glazing NI were delighted to work alongside the main contractor on this prestigious refurbishment project at the BBC building in Belfast. This project required a solution that would improve comfort and performance while respecting the character and integrity of the original structure.

As part of the refurbishment, we installed 14 aluminium acoustic secondary glazing frames, carefully fitted behind the existing original steel windows. Retaining these windows was essential to preserve the building’s architectural identity, while still meeting modern expectations for thermal efficiency and noise reduction.

Our acoustic secondary glazing system provides a highly effective barrier against external street noise—an important consideration for a busy city-centre location—while also helping to retain heat and improve energy efficiency throughout the building.

The installation was completed with minimal disruption, working closely with the main contractor to ensure the project stayed on schedule and met all technical requirements.

This project highlights how secondary glazing is an ideal solution for commercial, heritage and refurbishment projects, offering improved comfort, performance and security without the need to replace original windows.

Secondary Glazing NI — always warmer, quieter and safer.
